hello everyone welcome to another of mysamsung galaxy note 2 videos in this video i'm going to show you howto use the galaxy note 2 as a computer on your desk and i think it should work excellent because it has the split screen multitaskingfeature that you really needto achieve that true pc functionality so let's begin so the first thing you're going toneed is obviously galaxy note 2
and you will also need a power adapteri'll show you why the power adapter is a required onthis hdmi mhl hdtv adapter andthat's a mouthful by comes in the small box and it's about 45 dollars just want to know this is a11pin mhl adapter and the one's for the galaxy s 2 andthe original note you'll need a five to eleven pin convertive towork so make sure you buy the eleven pin adapt straightor if you have a five pin
one already buy the eleven pin converter so the power adapter actually plugsinto this micro usb jack in the back and unfortunately because it requiresthe power you're not able to plug in anythinglike the usb ltg connected there another thing is you going to need htmi cable does htmi cablethe other end is
already connected to my monitor behind me i have a monitor behind us so i'm going to connect the htmi cable into theadapter also you're going to need to powerthis adapter let's plug that into the power we have it all powered up last step is to plug in the
galaxy note 2 and then you should see there was a message that popped upsaying that hdtv adapter was connected and then the next steps you're going to need a bluetooth mouseand a bluetooth keyboard so i have a video separately showingyou how to pair the usb keyboard
and the usb mouse so if you need help with that make sureyou watch those other videos so let's fire the signup i finished pairing my usbkeyboard and usb mouse you could see i have it connected with themhl adaper there so let me show you what it looks likeon the monitor as you can see it's seen landscapemode but it hasn't filter the screen cuz the home screen does not support landscape mode but that'swhat it looks like on the computer
but once i click on one ofthese one of these apps here thatsupports landscape mode you could see goes right into landscape let me adjustlighting a little bit i've adjusted the lighting in myroom. let's actually take a step back i'm going to restart thedevice let's do a restart restarts
as you could seea little splash screen there shutdown screen again when i shut downmy phone but what's interesting is even thoughthat reminds of you a lot like how your computer by booting up for the first time you don't see it what is booting upyou only see it when it's shutting down i think it's a nice touch but iwish it had it when there was booting up but it's understandable all those features that thetext that htmi is there it's not
enabled so anyway it also does something cool when your booting up or when it sees the mhl cable not just when it isbooting up but when it sees the mhl cable and your on the landscape mode and when you had a tv connected
so let's wake the devices up when iwake up the keyboard and then i'm going to wake up the mousei just hit the space bar on the keyboard and move a mouse around a littlebit to make it establish a connection so i'm just going to click and drag okay i think we're fully booted now solet's start up the internet browser and let's try to do stuff that you would do it in front ofyour computer
so i'm going to start up multi-taskingby holding on the right mouse button there you go and then i scroll throw this list let me show you what doesn't work imagine you wanted to play a video say you want to start up one of thesevideos the interesting thing is it plays infullscreen even though it's not full screen on the phone and i rather work around sayingyou can't disable hardware overlays in
that developer options but that does not seem to work soif you have the solution to fix this 'cause i actually like watchingvideos when i'm working on the computer and you could definitely do thatif you are using a lcd monitor but if you are and it kinda does get inthe way but maybe another interesting thinghere's interesting work around see that
see my mouse point it there you couldsee squeeze that down and then make that tap disappearsqueeze that down so you get the full screen under video on the back and youcould still work with most of the screen on the other side but let's quit this video for nowbecause it does not work with what we're trying to do here so let's actually open up
you have an email and you have the web browser open let's go back up so we're multitasking hereyou could sized these down depending on what you wanna work with let me make that typo away by holding theright mouse button you could actually switch places
needs a little transition say you wanted to work on full screenone of these just click on that just click on just full-screens that you clicked on that last i'm kinda curious what happens if i hit the back button interesting and i think we have a bug
so i hit the back button hoping thatit would revert back to you my internet browser gmail but it went back to the video i wasplaying that is a bug definitely not working the way it should let's put the gmail back on there put the right down in the middle
and unfortunately my mouse does nothave resizing capabilities so i'm going to have to pinch on thetouchscreen let's see everything still working great let's see what happens whenyoutube video plays i wonder if that hardway overlay problem willhappen when we play youtube videos and no problem in playing youtube videos so that's a good thing
do you notice cutting off thescreen a little bit i'm wondering i need to zoom out a little bitmore now it doesn't that's interesting kinda get in the way of the screen herei'm just pointing all these out if you are really or you get a goodimpression of what it's like what it really is like before you invest inall these components
because although the bluetoothmouse and keyboard is cheap i thought the cable it seemed likewas a bit expensive so let's see see that works well let's see what if youwanted to work on like a word document say you wanted to have email open your gmail open but you want towork on the word document
let's see what happens so you will notice that i have all themajor office suites installed here but they're not on this list that means that we are going tohave to just use it full screen and multitaskigwill work let's use a king soft office i was just typing gibberish just just on my keyword
so let's try let's remove all this so i did i held shift and then ihit down on the keyboard and that seems all work i'm testing the samsung galaxy note 2 as if it was a pc pc
seems to type just fine here's a one killer feature only exclusive to king soft officeyou could select on text select text sdo a click and drag with the mouse it's different than for example cannot click and drag
on the smartphone watch on the galaxy note 2 say you want to do click and drag it's not likeyour do it here but here's a great feature in king softoffice click and drag just click and drag and then you could type over the text let's see control+z works control+z worked but the optionsare there already maybe easier to do that's cool
let's just play with this a little bit more let's insert actually here's one really important factyou gotta know when you're using the bluetoothkeyboard actually you see how the keyboard pops up every time youclick and then i actually hit the right mouse button to get rid of thiskeyboard
you cannot disabled that on thebluetooth keyboard i had a video up earlier showing that you can disablethat with no keyboard wifi keyboard was another optionon to say believe that but it might work for a little while but the bluetooth and the samsung keyboard is connectedsomehow when it doesn't see that you havesamsung keyboard connected it'll actually
take down you're bluetooth you gotta disable it and renableit again there's a big pain just letting you know if you have the usb keyboardwith the p_g_ connector definitely not a problem to use with the no keyboard so that you don't getthis annoying thing that blocks pretty much entirescreen and you don't have to hit theback button but with the bluetooth
keyboard you have to go through this steps and i think it is it is like a bug maybe like a feature but it needs to be changed by samsung so that you don't have this annoying keyboardproblem when we have thebluetooth keyboard
and mouse connected anyway i just want to format someof these or put together a regular document with a title galaxy note 2 review let's select it and then i wanna format it
formatting options these are formatting options on center wanna make this larger to bold first that is the center of thescreen let me see if i could zoom out onthis word document there that's a lot better
okay and i wanna increase the size looks good hit the back button to get rid ofthat annoying keyboard hit it again it is great except that annoying i'm going to make typing mistake on purpose keyboard that
pops up tooo bad i believe i saw some spell check samsung too you could double click on theword just like a computer to highlight that word
double clicks let's close spellcheck done by michael ma i'm getting it's weird i'm trying to do a scroll up anddown with the scroll actually it does not support it kinda surprised
you could click and drag that'snot really a problem let's see what reader button does puts in a full-screen mode let's get out of full screen modeand let's save save wants me to choose where tosave the file this is my internal storageeven though it's called sd card it's my internal storage and this is myexternal storage save it in the internal storage
just going to save it on the route that theinternal storage could give it a name let's put as a pc you could encrypt but not gonnado that see if you could choose docx definitely you can and it's saved as a word processor
definitely take some getting used to andi think you could definitely nock out couple of documents but it does have that one annoying bug with the keyboard and it's not something you can't workaround but pretty annoying i just want to go backon a little bit of something i said remember i said when you view
youtube videos it does not take up theentire screen i was viewing a youtubevideo through the flash player on the youtube web page you will have a problem with the youtube app doing multi screen let's launch the youtube app say that you want to have your email open let's see on the bottom
as you can see i have the email appon the left and the youtube app open on the right well that's not happening up here grabbing thisvideo stream and help putting three to the monitor remember we had a little work aroundwe can just size this down to really small you can use most of your screen for
your other act and then have the video play in the back maybe i would actually want that the other way around but does notwork like that for example if i chose that swap does absolutely nothing other than swapping on the screen let's swap again let's exit out of youtube app
let's go back to home screen what else we might be able to dolet's put facebook get facebook started or google maps i think my gps off turn it back on so if you want to use mapping for somereason you could definitely use
look something above while you're surfing onthe map or while you're using facebook so there you go i think it definitely i'll make this conclusion it definitely isn't a computer replacement but if you're a light computer userand you use a computer for the internet facebook, youtube
it's actually better because it has thephone features as well right it has all the information that you would haveon the it's limited in that it will not run fullversion of like adobe creative suite or visual studio or even microsoft office it gets a lot of thosefeatures done you could definitely
uses to accomplish a lot of tasks more tasks than traditional smartphone or even like a big size tablet just because of the multi-screen features i hope there's some work aroundonce again if you guys can chime in
on what i can do with the video only been speed on the monitor some other problems wefound out with the somebody can find a solution which doesn't kill the bluetoothkeyboard and mouse once we what's we enable something likeno keyboard okay so i just wanted to cover a couple ofmore things so where this whole setup reallyshines is
when you're using the web browser and to be honest i think it is the mostimportant part of this experience the web browser is pretty much wherei personally spend most of my time when i'm on the computer whether it be work or entertainment everything's done throw the web now it is important thatthis experience works perfect and they pretty much naildown on the head
even flash work so i really can'task more of it if you wanted to do split screen multiweb browsing even that's possible because chrome chrome is also supported on here you could be runningthe stock browser and chrome also but actually i prefer i prefer the web browserthan the stock browser use that for right now
that's enough good things about the webbrowsing experience pretty much a full experience let's see what else i forgot to mention i'm kind of string off the topichere how on your phone you havethis menu buttons here here's one thing in my current setup with the bluetoothmouse and the bluetooth keyboard that i have have no way to access the menubutton if there might be some mouses
or mice that's being so that to have these buttons backed but unfortunately that isnot the case with the most in the blue tooth keyboard that i have even if youdon't have it i don't think it's really that big of a deali don't really navigate to that that often i have my other hand free i could always hit that menu button
on the phone and things like setting you could accesssettings from here right so it's not a deal breaker but it is kind of a bummerit's like a one missing link it seems so anyway the browsing isperfect and one last thing i want to mention is that
the brightness on here you should turn that all the way downi know i had it up just for this video you should turn that all the way downbecause that way your device even though it's technically trying to be charged you will see
continue draining if you have it athundred-percent because this mhl cable definitely uses a lot ofpower you might also notice your phonegetting pretty warm as well so just keep that in mind when we started we were at about88% and you can see it's 83% now but i've done this at the lowest bright setting
and it will hover around the samepercentage so it won't drain your battery while you're doing tvl or hdtvl and if you lock the screen it's not going to keep the screen on if you turn off the screen
